This caused resentment for rosalia from the moment she was born. her mother, however, was extremely kind and loving toward rosalia and did whatever she could to make sure that both of her daughters were happy. As she grew her mother started calling her rosa and the nickname stuck. rosa was raised in arcadia city, an island just off of boston, and her father was a hedgefund manager of a major financial firm in arcadia. his father had started the firm back in 1981 and business began to boom. the entire reis family worked there – ricardo was the cfo, his younger brother manoel handled marketing since he had no interest in money and how that was all handled. rosa's grandfather on her mother's side founded the rizzo corporation brand, which started on arcadia and has since branched out to other cities, most notably, new york city. despite their families busy schedules, emma made sure that the family attended catholic church servies on sundays.

growing up on the island was quiet but everyone knew rosa's family name. that gave her a little confidence boost that she needed and she leveraged that when she could and made her way into the popular crowd. whenever she saw injustice happening, though, she didn't tolerate it. instead she would go directly up the bullies and tell them they needed to stop. once, she was punched in the face for doing this by a young boy who was just itching for a fight and, once rosa got over the shock and the aching in her jaw, she punched him hard in his nose. her mother was surprised that her normally docile child was going around and punching boys in the nose but she realized that maybe she needed an activity for rosa and she enrolled her in karate, where she could properly learn to defend herself. It seemed like a natural progression because her youngest had refused to go back to dance class, even though her sister was enrolled in those activities.

even though her and her older sister by two years fought constantly, rosa loved gabriella very much. the two of them felt like they could take on the world when they were together. gabriella was so different from rosa, though. rosa was intense, determined, stubborn, outgoing, never afraid. gabriella was quiet, shy, had a very quiet energy but still determined. the two sisters rarely agreed on anything except the fact that they loved each other and would always support each other. that support was tenfold when gabriella started to dance competively and her sister would often go to the competions. there was a competition in new york city in january 2005 that rosa was told she couldn't go to because she couldn't miss school. she huffed and puffed but stayed home but not with her father. her father couldn't be bothered so she stayed with her uncle and aunt. on their way home from the hotel to the airport the cab both emma and gabriella were riding in was in a huge car accident and both died instantly from the impact. rosa was beside herself and she decided she wanted to stay with her uncle (her father's brother) and didn't move back home.

going into high school without her mother or her sister was absolutely devastating for rosa. she became a little more quiet and reserved but her uncle and aunt tried to push their neice to carry on her mother's name and legacy. meanwhile, her relationship with her father continued to sour and she became suspicious of him when she noticed that he had been spending more and more time with her aunt carmen – her mother's sister. it was strange and soon the woman moved in and, a year after her mother's death the two were married. rosa became very angry and confronted her father about his relationship with her aunt prior to the death of her mother. he revealed that they had been having an affair and rosa became irrate, smashing things and the police were called. she was fifteen years old at the time and was not arrested but her uncle, and now guardian, put her into anger management classes.

after graduating from high school she knew she needed to get off the island and she went enrolled in boston university to receive a degree in business administration. even though she could have easily landed a job with the company that her grandfather had founded, she wanted to make sure that she did things the right way and applied herself. she also wanted to make sure that she made her mother proud and she worked hard. it didn't mean that she didn't have some fun, though. it was the first time that she was truly on her own and she was making the most of it. she went to parties and tried new things. one night at a party someone had what they dubbed 'living room crossbow' where they would try and shoot whatever was on the coffee table. rosa loved this and after that party she decided to find someone to really teach her how to use a crossbow. she also experimented with her sexuality a little and realized that, while she liked guys, she also wouldn't say no to a girl either.

she stayed in boston to get quick degree of masters of management in hospitality before heading back to arcadia and working in the hotels that her family had founded out of their corporation. she started as a front desk girl and quickly worked her way up the ladder to being the manager of the hotel. she's not sure if she'll want to open her own boutique hotel some day but it's something she's been tossing around. when she turned 25, she got the shock of her life when she received a 2 million dollar inheritance from the death of her mother. in 2016, her father was brought up on charges of money laundering, tax evasion, racketeering and it was revealed that her father had mob connections. this would sink the company that her father's family worked so hard to build and, in spring of 2018, he was formally sentenced to 20 years in prison. rosa has not spoken to him and when her father's lawyer asked her to speak on her father's behalf as a character witness, she declined.
